Heart Healthy Breakfast Recipes

It’s often said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and I completely agree – even if I don’t typically “break my fast” until around 11 each morning.

The first meal we introduce into our bodies each day is the foundation for the rest of the day ahead. Heavy foods tend to weigh us down and slow us down. If we feel like we need a nap after eating, it’s probably safe to say we aren’t giving our body the right fuel. Light, refreshing, and nutritious foods tend to give us energy and keep us moving. They also tend to be good for our
beautiful bodies!

Overnight oats are a heart-healthy breakfast option filled with fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals. Of course, I personally love to start the day with a yummy and satisfying breakfast smoothie. They are fast and easy, plant-based (fruits, veggies, and/or nuts), nutrient dense, and wonderfully hydrating. And they don’t leave me feeling bloated.

Plus, there are so many fun and flavorful options that boredom isn’t even an issue. (They are also a great way to make sure your kids are focused and energized for school!) It’s so simple and speedy to combine, mix, garnish, and go that I wish I’d discovered this secret sooner. A good breakfast doesn’t have to be hard work.

I’m going to share some of my favorite breakfast recipes, but I also encourage you to mix and match and make your own brain-healthy, heart-healthy, body-healthy creations! Keep in mind that smoothies are an amazingly easy way to sneak some extra veggies into your day. Just throw in a handful of leafy greens, a bit of beet, or a stalk of celery and no one has to know!

Helpful Tip: You can freeze your fruit ahead in lieu of ice!

Heart-Smart Breakfast Recipes

Breakfast Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz organic unsweetened almond milk
  • ½ frozen banana
  • handful of frozen blueberries
  • 1 tsp cashew butter
  • 1 tsp MCT oil
  • 1 tsp cocoa nibs

Blend and enjoy!

Matcha Latte Shake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of organic unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 scoops of matcha latte powder
  • generous sprinkle of cinnamon

Shake and enjoy!

Protein Power Shake

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz organic unsweetened almond milk
  • ½ frozen banana
  • 1 scoop collagen powder
  • 1 tsp maca powder
  • 1 tbsp MCT oil
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 2‑3 pitted dates
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp cacao nibs
  • handful of ice

Shake and enjoy!

Peanut Butter Cacao Overnight Oats

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of rolled oats
  • ½ cup of nut milk of your choice
  • ¾ tbsp of chia seeds
  • 1 tsp of almond or peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp of maple syrup
  • ¼ cup of Longevity superfood blend (cacao flavor)
  • berries/nuts (garnish)

Instructions:

Moisten the oats with your choice of nut milk.
Add nut milk, chia seeds, nut butter, maple syrup, and Longevity cacao blend into a sealable container.
Add moistened oats, mix, and seal/cover.
Refrigerate overnight and enjoy a breakfast of elevated oats.

Almond Buttercup Superfood Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of nut milk of your choice
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 2 scoops of Longevity superfood blend (cacao flavor)
  • 1 heaping tablespoon of almond butter
  • small handful of spinach (optional)
  • handful of ice

Blend and enjoy!

Cacao Longevity Superfood Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz organic unsweetened almond milk
  • ½ frozen banana
  • 1 pitted date
  • 2 scoops Longevity superfood blend (cacao flavor)
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tbsp MCT oil
  • sprinkle of cinnamon
  • handful of ice

Blend and enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of nut milk of your choice
  • ½ banana
  • 2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 2 scoops of Longevity superfood blend (cacao flavor)
  • 1 cooked red beet
  • pomegranate seeds
  • handful of ice

Blend and enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of nut milk of your choice
  • 1 frozen banana 
  • 2 scoops of Longevity superfood blend chocolate mint flavor
  • small handful of spinach

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup organic unsweetened almond milk
  • ½ frozen banana
  • 2 tsp pumpkin purée
  • sprinkle of nutmeg and cinnamon
  • 1 pitted date 
  • 2 scoops of Longevity superfood blend (cafè mocha flavor)
  • grated ginger
  • handful of ice
  • sprinkle of turmeric (garnish)
