A New Year is a great opportunity for us to reset and start fresh. I suspect more diets and gym memberships are started on January 1st than any other time of the year. There’s just something powerful about the idea of a hard stop, a meaningful pause, and a new beginning.
Obviously, this magical marker can inspire and motivate us to make big changes, but sometimes it can also delay or discourage us from taking action. I mean, why should we wait until New Years to start taking care of ourselves, eating better, or getting fit? And if we start late, miss a day, or slip up with our plans, why should we let that make us feel bad or deter us from picking right back up where we left off and starting again? We shouldn’t!
The important thing to remember is that health is a journey, not a destination. That’s why I like to think of a new year less like a calendar and more like a book that we get to write as we go along—each choice a new sentence, each day a new chapter. It matters less when we start than that we start. And what matter most is that we keep moving forward. After all, where our story goes is entirely up to us to decide.
Every day is a chance to start fresh. So, let’s commit to recommitting each day to caring for our bodies, minds, and spirits. We owe it to ourselves.
I can’t wait to see where our stories take us this year! Let’s turn the pages together!
