Fit Moms

Being a mom impacts just about every aspect of our lives. We give our children all of our love and even more of our energy. People often say parenting is a full-time job, but it’s actually way more than that. It’s closer to two full-time jobs, plus a full-time on-call shift. Every day. No time off. Of course it is! We create little babies in our bodies and then we feed, clothe, shelter, protect, and guide them into independent adults.

Of course, while we are doing all of that, we are also juggling partners, parents, friends, family, work, home, school, social engagements, and even pets. The life of a mom is full! I totally get it. The thing is… our own health and wellness has to fit into
the mix somehow, somewhere. Not only for ourselves – although that should be enough – but also for everyone who’s
counting on us.

A lot of women see other fit moms and think that their lives must be somehow easier or more free. They assume those other moms have more time, less demands, or naturally high metabolisms. Well, I’m a fit mom, and I can assure you that I stay busy at least forty hours a day. Okay, maybe it just feels like it. But I’m pretty sure it’s at least twenty-five hours a day. The point is that it is possible to be one of those fit moms without upending your whole life or neglecting your responsibilities.

When we think about most of the modern conveniences that were invented to save us time and reduce our workload, we realize that their increased efficiency simply came with increased expectations. If we could accomplish our tasks twice as fast, then we were expected to do twice as much in the same amount of time. It’s funny how it always seems to work out that way. One major exception to this phenomena, though, is digital gyms.

In order to workout, we used to have to drive to the gym, park, walk, workout, and then do it all in reverse. We had to wait for shared equipment to be free or make classes at set times. It was impractical and time consuming, especially for busy moms. I created my BB Body app to eliminate all of that. No driving. No equipment. No schedules. No waiting. Pick your time, place, and streaming device, and I’ll meet you where you are. Now that’s what I call mom fitness!

Best of all, I always have workouts available for whatever you need right now. I have a host of sessions to help you sweat smart and achieve your goals, even when you only have ten or twenty minutes to spare. There are targeted sessions – body sculpting, booty burns, kitchen BARREs, yoga flows, and more – and full-body workouts that you can pick and stack at your convenience to fit your schedule. With so many options to mix and match, you’ll never get bored.

I typically recommend squeezing in a ten or twenty minutes of exercise first thing in the morning before there are any chances for interruptions. That small window of peace and quiet and self-care is a great time for a short but exhilarating workout. However, a lot of moms tell me that they are more diligent about working out while cooking dinner, literally, because they feel like they are able to make double use of that time.

Finding what works best for you is what matters. The key is to make a commitment to yourself and keep it. Start with ten minutes a day, five days a week. Play around with what time is easiest for you to keep. Give your body a chance to adjust to the experience of mindful movement. Notice how you can feel your body responding to your efforts. Success, like confidence, builds incrementally over time, which is why it’s better to start slow and grow than to overdo and get overwhelmed.

When you are just getting started, giving yourself a chance to ease into and solidify a new exercise habit can be enormously beneficial. Sure, I have lots of other healthy ideas I can share with you about things like intermittent fasting, healthy eating, Longevity, etc. But success is more important than speed. Progress over perfection, always!

We are strong. We are powerful. We are warriors. And we can find our way back to our best selves with the smallest of investment in our own bodies. If I can be a fit mom, we can all be fit moms. Grab a yoga mat and a bottle of water and join me for mom fitness that you thought was out of reach. Three months from now, you won’t be able to imagine going back.
